Passing of Helen Roseveare and Elsie Harris
Dr. Helen Roseveare, co-founder in 1966 of the CME hospital at Nyankunde died on 7 December 2016. Helen had worked previously in the country during the 1950s and suffered much during the rebellion in 1964. We thank God for her vision and dedication to the people of Zaire and Democratic Republic of Congo over many years.
Elsie Harris, who worked with her husband John in Zaire at the same time as Helen also died on 1 January 2017. Working for the Leprosy Mission they moved later to Nyankunde as their final home overseas. Elsie was a founding Trustee of Friends of CME Trust after she returned to England. We thank God for her work both in Zaire and for Friends of CME Trust. A ward at Nyankunde has been named in her honour.
